Combatting Homelessness Through the Arts

An important social action cause comes to life through the arts. This interactive experience on homelessness awareness includes original live and recorded music, poetry, first hand accounts, soundscapes, storytellers, paintings by Robert M. Fisher, photos by Gary F. Clark, multimedia artwork , dance choreography by Alesia Young and percussion by John T. Coker.

Composer-electric violinist Mary Lou Newmark will involve members of the community in the event.
Admission: $10 members, $15 general public.

own sound world.
Her music has been performed at international music festivals and featured on public radio stations throughout the world.

In her role as music educator, she is a member of the performing arts faculty at Windward School in Los Angeles..

Charcoal-Broiled Duck Breasts

4 md Duck breast filets 1 tb Sherry 4 sl Bacon 1 tb Brandy 2 Beef bouilllon cubes 1/8 ts Marjoram 1 c Water 1/8 ts Oregano 1 tb Red Current jelly Grated rind of 1 orange 1/2 ts Dry mustard
1) Rinse the duck breasts and pat dry, then wrap each filet with a slice of bacon (same as for a filet mignon) and season with salt and pepper to taste. Grill over hot coals for exactly 2 minutes per side... 2) Disolve the bouillon cubes in water in a chaffing dish or electric skillet, and stir in the jelly, mustard, sherry, brandy, and spices, simmering 'til thickened. Airsoft Gun Pellets

Airsoft gun pellets come in different shapes, sizes and weights. Most airsoft pellets, also known as BBs (ball bearing) are normally 6mm spherical plastics. There are starch based biodegradable, metal coated, graphite coated, and steel pellets. Airsoft pellets typically weigh from 0.12 to 0.43 g.

6mm pellets, 0.12 g are used by gas and spring weapons but not for high-end AEGs.

The same goes for 0.15 g. 0.20 g standard weights and used by AEGs. 0.23 g is heavy weight for AEGs and 0.25 g is the heaviest weight for standard AEGs, blowback and spring guns. 0.30 g is the standard and 0.36 g are heavier pellets for sniper rifles. 0.43 g is for highest levels of upgrades sniper rifles.

As for 8mm pellets, 0.34 g is low weight, 0.45 g is standard weight and 0.60 g is the heaviest weight for 8mm sniper rifles.

For automatic electric guns (AEGs), the velocity limits range between 300-400 FPS (feet per second). For single shot guns, it is 400 to 500 FPS...

Ford Recalls Escape Hybrids

Ford Motor Co. will recall 6,164 Escape hybrid sport utility vehicles built at Claycomo plant. According to the U.S. traffic agency, said units need to be inspected due to the reported possibility of drivetrain shaft fracture. Said fracture is attributed to the improper installation of the shaft.

The recall will include all front-wheel drive version of the gasoline-electric 2006 Ford Escape hybrid SUVs which are manufactured from July 28, 2005, through April 21, 2006.

The recall of said vehicles is scheduled on or before Oct. 23.


According to Kristen Kinley, Ford spokesperson, Ford built about 20,000 Escape Hybrids in the 2006 model year. However, only 6,164 of it will be inspected Ford. The information was given by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Said inspection is triggered by a handful of reports that have swarmed Ford. The company has in fact identified 14 reports of the problem through its internal...
